How Lost Dogs works

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Lost Dogs Companion Card?⌄
A Companion Card is a digital personalised profile for your dog that you control at all times. It gives a finder clear access to the information needed to contact your family and help your dog return home.
What is a Companion Tag?⌄
The Companion Tag attaches to your dog’s collar or harness. A finder can scan it with a compatible smartphone to open your dog’s Companion Card.
Does the finder need an app or an account?⌄
No. The finder does not need to install an app, create an account or sign in. The Companion Card opens directly in their phone’s browser.
Can I update my Companion Card?⌄
Yes. Members can sign in to their private Member Portal and update their dog’s Companion Card whenever information changes.
What information can I include?⌄
A Companion Card can include your dog’s portrait, gallery photographs, contact details, important information, return-location links and an additional message from their family.
Is my personal information protected?⌄
Private member information, including contact details, names, addresses and saved map links, is fully encrypted before it is stored.
What happens after I join?⌄
You create your Lost Dogs account, build your personalised Companion Card and submit the address where your Companion Tag should be sent.
What happens if my membership expires?⌄
An expired membership enters a grace period of 14 days. During that time, the account can be renewed before the Companion Card reaches the end of its membership lifecycle.
How do I contact Lost Dogs for support?⌄
Lost Dogs has its own built-in Support messaging system. Simply send us a message from your Member Portal and we'll reply directly there, keeping everything in one place.
